Abstract

Researchers at Beijing University of Technology conducted a study on the geopolymerization and setting process of metakaolin-based geopolymer using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology. The study monitored the transition of water in concrete from liquid to bound states, revealing microstructural evolution. Results showed a significant decrease in water signal intensity during the geopolymerization process, with different liquid-to-binder ratios affecting the timing of water transformation. The research identified four stages in the geopolymer setting process and concluded that the microstructural changes closely aligned with the Vicat penetration test results. The study was published in Construction and Building Materials and can be accessed online. [Extracted from the article]
