Researchers at Beijing University of Technology conducted a study on the geopolymerization and setting process of metakaolin-based geopolymer using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology. The study monitored the transition of water in concrete from liquid to bound states, revealing microstructural evolution. Results showed a significant decrease in water signal intensity during the geopolymerization process, with different liquid-to-binder ratios affecting the timing of water transformation.
