Abstract
- Researchers at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital in China conducted a study on the association between impaired sensitivity to thyroid hormone and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in diabetic individuals. The study included over 26,000 participants from a health screening program and over 8,000 hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes. The findings indicated that impaired sensitivity to thyroid hormone was linked to an increased risk of developing NAFLD but a reduced risk of advanced fibrosis, specifically in diabetic individuals. The researchers suggest the need for further stratified studies on NAFLD based on diabetic status in the future. [Extracted from the article]
