Abstract

Researchers at Technical University Munich conducted a study on the long-term impact of cardiac surgery on the quality of life in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHDs). The study included 196 ACHDs, with most reporting improved subjective well-being after surgery and comparable life satisfaction to healthy individuals. The severity of the underlying heart condition and number of previous surgeries were found to have significant effects on illness perception. The research concluded that ACHDs, several years post-surgery, reported positive outcomes in well-being and low health risk behaviors. [Extracted from the article]
