Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Queen's University in Belfast, United Kingdom, explored the availability and characteristics of animal-assisted intervention (AAI) services in intensive care units (ICUs) across the UK. The study found that AAI services were present in less than half of the ICUs surveyed, with concerns over infection control and lack of supporting evidence being common barriers to service provision. The researchers emphasized the need for further evidence of the effectiveness of AAI services before wider implementation in ICUs. The study was published in the Journal of the Intensive Care Society by SAGE Publications. [Extracted from the article]
