Abstract

Researchers from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have published a study on the role of cholesterol in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in mice. The study found that cholesterol overload in macrophages can drive liver inflammation and identified 7-dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR7) as a key enzyme involved in this process. The research suggests that targeting DHCR7 activation in macrophages could be a potential therapeutic strategy for MASH. [Extracted from the article]
