Abstract

Researchers at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine have conducted a study on de novo biosynthesis of a polyene-type ginsenoside precursor, dammaradienol, in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The study aimed to increase the yield of polyene-type ginsenosides, which have stronger biological activities but are costly to produce. Through metabolic engineering strategies, the researchers achieved a titer of 1.037 g/L of dammaradienol, laying the groundwork for the development of a polyene-type ginsenoside cell factory. This research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese Medicine Guangdong Laboratory. [Extracted from the article]
