Abstract

The University of British Columbia conducted research on exercise-induced diaphragm fatigue in females with high aerobic capacity. The study found that despite higher ventilatory demands during exercise, highly trained females were not more resistant to diaphragm fatigue. Aerobic fitness was not predictive of exercise-induced diaphragm fatigue in females. The research was supported by the Canadian Government and the Natural Sciences And Engineering Research Council of Canada. [Extracted from the article]
