Abstract

Researchers at Nantong University in Jiangsu, China conducted a retrospective study comparing the effects of modified holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) versus traditional HoLEP on urinary incontinence in elderly patients. The study found that the modified technique resulted in lower rates of urinary incontinence at 3 and 6 months post-surgery, with significant differences in membranous urethral length and enucleated prostate weight. The researchers concluded that the modified HoLEP technique is safe and effective for improving urine control, with better outcomes in residual prostate volume and maximum urine flow rate.
