Abstract
- A study conducted by the University of Liege in Rwanda aimed to identify Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) genotypes and subtypes among infected patients and their geographical distribution. The research included 560 patients with chronic HCV infection, revealing that genotype 4 was predominant in 99.3% of patients, with subtype 4k being the most prevalent nationwide. The study highlighted variations in subtype distribution among provinces and potential associations between rural/urban lifestyles and HCV subtype profiles, emphasizing the importance of personalized treatment strategies based on diverse factors.
