Abstract

Researchers at Federal Rural University Pernambuco conducted a systematic review on the use of phytocannabinoids in animal models of Parkinson's disease. The study aimed to evaluate the effects of medicinal Cannabis on motor disorders, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress. The research, which received financial support from various organizations, concluded that phytocannabinoids reduced inflammation, microglial/astrocyte activation, and oxidative stress in the animal models. The study used various inducing agents and treatments, such as cannabidiol and Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, to improve locomotor activity and reduce catalepsy in the animals.
