Abstract

A study conducted at the University of Seville in Spain compared two approaches to pancreatoduodenectomy in patients with periampullary tumors, focusing on circulating tumor cells and cluster mobilization. The research found that both the no-touch approach and the superior mesenteric artery approach had similar outcomes in terms of circulating tumor cells, cluster mobilization, overall survival, and metastasis disease-free survival. The study concluded that high intraoperative cluster dissemination during pancreatoduodenectomy was a predictive factor for early metastases in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
