Abstract
- A study conducted by Army Medical University in Chongqing, China, explored the effects of L-carnitine on exertional heatstroke-induced myocardial injury in rats. The research found that L-carnitine had a protective effect on cardiac dysfunction and mortality in rats with exertional heatstroke, reducing negative effects such as myocardial apoptosis and enzyme activity levels. The study suggested that L-carnitine may reduce myocardial injury by inhibiting the PERK pathway associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress in exertional heatstroke. The findings indicate that L-carnitine supplementation could be a potential strategy to mitigate myocardial damage in exertional heatstroke cases. [Extracted from the article]
