Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of West Attica in Greece focused on the prevalence of plantar warts, genital warts, and herpetic infections among young competitive swimmers in Greek swimming clubs. The study involved 1047 swimmers and found that infections such as plantar warts and herpes labialis were more common among swimmers, with certain behaviors like walking barefoot on pool decks correlating with these infections. The research highlighted the importance of effective prevention and management strategies to reduce swimmers' exposure to skin viruses and maintain their performance and well-being.
