Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Jinan, China, focused on the impact of gut bacteria, specifically Klebsiella oxytoca, on the fitness of Drosophila suzukii in their unique ecological niche characterized by high sugar content. The research found that the presence of K. oxytoca positively influenced the development and survival of D. suzukii by stimulating the glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathway, which is crucial for sugar metabolism. This discovery may offer new insights into controlling D. suzukii populations by targeting sugar metabolism through the manipulation of gut microbial communities. [Extracted from the article]
