Abstract

Researchers at Baylor University conducted a study on the impact of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear on player performance and longevity in La Liga League soccer players. The study analyzed data from professional soccer players who underwent ACL reconstruction surgery between 1993 and 2020. The findings showed that players experienced lower performance metrics in the first two years post-surgery but largely recovered within three years, indicating that players eventually return to pre-injury levels of play. The research suggests that players should be counseled on initial declines in performance metrics after surgery. [Extracted from the article]
