Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Jiangxi University of Science and Technology in Ganzhou, People's Republic of China, focused on the impact of cyclic freeze-thaw treatment on the fracture characteristics of sandstone in building and construction projects. The research analyzed the evolution of pore structure, fracture characteristics, and their correlation in freeze-thaw treated sandstone through various tests. Results indicated that the mechanical parameters of specimens failure with mode I fracture were smaller than those with mode II fracture due to the development of the pore structure. The study concluded that the failure forms of the two fracture modes changed with freeze-thaw weathering, highlighting the importance of understanding these processes in cold region engineering projects.
