Abstract

Researchers from the Department of Chemical and Forensic Sciences in Gujarat, India, have developed a new method for accurately determining memantine hydrochloride using kinetic spectroscopy. The method involves measuring the reaction between the drug and 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene in an alkaline medium at 70 degrees C, resulting in a distinctive absorbance peak at 290.5 nm. The study was supported by the Education Department of the Government of Gujarat, and the researchers were able to effectively determine memantine hydrochloride in a commercial formulation. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Analytical Chemistry. [Extracted from the article]
