Abstract

The article discusses the genomic characterization of foodborne Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli isolates from Saboba district and Bolgatanga Municipality in Ghana. The study used whole-genome sequencing to identify various Salmonella serovars and resistance genes in the isolates. While antimicrobial resistance was not common among Salmonella strains, a significant number of E. coli strains were found to be multidrug resistant, highlighting the importance of stringent food safety practices to prevent outbreaks and reduce the risk of associated illnesses in Ghana.
