Abstract

A researcher at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital conducted a study to determine if testing for dry eyes should be done before age-related cataract surgery. The study involved 81 patients aged 50 and above who were scheduled for manual small incision cataract surgery. The findings indicated that dry eye disease was not associated with the surgery, and testing for it before the procedure may not always be necessary. The study provides valuable insights into the pre-operative evaluation of patients undergoing cataract surgery. [Extracted from the article]
