Abstract

Researchers at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in Basel, Switzerland, conducted a study using artificial intelligence to analyze retinal fluid volume dynamics in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). The study found that eyes with different nAMD subtypes responded differently to treatment, and higher baseline volumes of certain fluids were associated with poor visual outcomes. The findings suggest that residual intraretinal fluid, subretinal hyperreflective material, and cyst-free retinal volume were predictors of poor visual outcomes in nAMD patients. The research was supported by Hoffmann-La Roche and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
