Abstract
- Researchers from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens conducted a systematic review of literature on the hemostatic profile in neonates with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). The study found that IUGR neonates often exhibit thrombocytopenia and prolonged coagulation tests, but data on coagulation factors are limited and conflicting. Despite laboratory abnormalities, no clear correlation was found between these findings and clinical bleeding or thrombosis. The researchers concluded that further studies are needed to better understand hemostasis in IUGR neonates and guide targeted therapeutic interventions. [Extracted from the article]
