Abstract

Researchers from the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention have discovered a novel peptide, P25, derived from the VP1 of EV-D68, that exhibits broad-spectrum antiviral activity against human enteroviruses. This peptide shows potential as a universal anti-enterovirus drug candidate by blocking viral binding to receptors, suppressing viral genome release, and reducing the production of infectious viral particles. The study highlights the importance of developing new antiviral drugs to combat the diverse species of enteroviruses circulating annually. [Extracted from the article]
