Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Utah Health focused on the use of prolonged transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating perinatal depression in a pregnant Latina patient. The patient had previously tried various treatments without success, but achieved near-remission of depression and resolution of suicidal ideation after undergoing 46 transcranial magnetic stimulation treatments over 9 weeks. The study highlights the potential effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating treatment-resistant perinatal depression and calls for further investigation into its use in such cases.
