Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa, Italy, focused on long-term upper-limb prosthesis myocontrol using high-density surface electromyography (sEMG) and incremental learning methods. The research aimed to address limitations in controlling robotic prostheses by introducing a novel myoelectric prosthetic system with a high-density sEMG setup and incremental learning techniques. The study involved analyzing multiple learning algorithms across seven subjects, including one with limb absence, over six sessions held on different days spanning several months. The findings of the research have been published in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, and the dataset and experimental code have been made available for further study.
