Abstract

Researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico conducted a study on preschoolers with non-syndromic craniosynostosis undergoing surgery to determine their cognitive performance compared to typically developing children. The study found that children with non-syndromic craniosynostosis, particularly those with unicoronal synostosis, exhibited more cognitive difficulties than those with normal development. Assessing cognition in preschoolers with craniosynostosis is crucial to detect potential difficulties early on. The research was supported by the National Council of Science and Technology and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
