Abstract
- The article discusses a study on the potential use of bitter taste receptor agonists to induce apoptosis in papillary thyroid cancer cells. The research found that activation of these receptors led to decreased cell viability and increased apoptosis in the cancer cells. Higher expression of a specific bitter taste receptor gene, TAS2R14, was associated with better progression-free survival in patients, suggesting a potential therapeutic relevance in managing thyroid cancer. The study highlights the importance of exploring alternative treatment options for thyroid cancer based on the activation of taste receptors. [Extracted from the article]
