Abstract

Researchers from the Department of Chemical Engineering in Pondicherry, India, have developed new thermodynamic correlations for the solubility of pharmaceutical compounds in supercritical carbon dioxide. The study utilized Universal quasi-chemical Functional Group Activity Coefficient and Wilson models to propose activity coefficient models. The research focused on pharmaceutical compounds such as anticancer, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, comparing the newly proposed models with existing solid-fluid equilibrium models. The findings suggest that the new models show promise in correlating the solubility of pharmaceutical compounds in supercritical carbon dioxide. [Extracted from the article]
