Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Florida analyzed the use of liposomal bupivacaine in cats undergoing gastrointestinal surgery and its impact on postoperative opioid use. The study found that cats administered liposomal bupivacaine required significantly lower doses of full-opioid agonists postoperatively and were managed with a combination of full and partial opioid agonists. Additionally, cats that received liposomal bupivacaine also required lower doses of ondansetron, suggesting reduced postoperative nausea. This research provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of using liposomal bupivacaine for analgesia in postoperative care for cats. [Extracted from the article]
