Abstract
- Researchers at Boston Children's Hospital conducted a retrospective study on the efficacy of topiramate in treating pseudotumor cerebri syndrome (PTCS) in children. The study included 46 patients under 21 years old, with results showing that topiramate can effectively treat PTCS in children with mild to moderate papilledema or those unable to tolerate acetazolamide. The most common side effect reported was cognitive slowing, and further research is needed to assess the efficacy of topiramate for higher grade papilledema. Financial support for the research came from the Children's Hospital Ophthalmology Foundation. [Extracted from the article]
