Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Lanzhou, People's Republic of China, focused on the therapeutic effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza root on hindlimb ischemia. The research found that the Water Extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza (WES) could enhance blood flow recovery and blood vessel regeneration in damaged hindlimbs. The study also highlighted the role of WES and its ingredients in promoting endothelial cell growth and proliferation through the activation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signal pathway. This research sheds light on the potential of Salvia miltiorrhiza in promoting ischemic remodeling and angiogenesis through its multiple principal ingredients. [Extracted from the article]
