Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Midwestern University explored the impact of maternal dietary deficiencies in folic acid and choline on the metabolite profiles of offspring after ischemic stroke. The research found that female offspring from the folic acid deficiency group exhibited the greatest number of altered metabolites related to cholesterol metabolism and neuroprotection. The study suggests that ensuring adequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy may be crucial for reducing stroke susceptibility and improving post-stroke recovery in offspring, with potential benefits from nutritional supplementation strategies targeting folic acid and choline intake.
