Abstract
- Researchers at Chongqing Medical University conducted a study to differentiate between Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (AIDP) and acute-onset Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (A-CIDP) in pediatric patients. The study found that A-CIDP patients were older, required more complex treatments, and had longer time to nadir compared to AIDP patients. Factors such as gastrointestinal dysfunction and numbness were more prevalent in A-CIDP, while AIDP patients had longer hospital stays and more cranial nerve involvement. The study concluded that early detection of A-CIDP may be favored when the condition deteriorates beyond two weeks with lower modified Rankin Scale scores on admission. [Extracted from the article]
