Abstract

A study conducted at Hiroshima University Hospital explored the impact of immunosuppressive drugs on the efficacy of mesenchymal stem cell therapy for suppressing renal fibrosis. The research found that certain drugs, such as methylprednisolone and cyclophosphamide, interfered with the activation and engraftment of MSCs, reducing their therapeutic effectiveness. The study suggests that patients on these drugs may benefit more from MSCs preactivated with IFN-g or other means. This research provides valuable insights for selecting patients suitable for MSC therapy. [Extracted from the article]
