Abstract

Researchers at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University conducted a study on the impact of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG) on obese patients in China. The study focused on the changes in gut microbiota and their association with metabolic improvements post-surgery. Results showed a significant decrease in Body Mass Index (BMI) and improvements in glucose metabolism, liver function, and serum lipid levels after LSG. The research concluded that LSG not only reduces body weight but also alleviates metabolic syndrome and comorbidities by altering gut microbiota. [Extracted from the article]
