Abstract

The article discusses the independent control of neurogenesis and dorsoventral patterning by the transcription factor NKX2-2 in human spinal cord development. It highlights the unique behavior of ventral motor neuron progenitors (vpMNs) and their expansion, controlled by NKX2-2, which represses proneural gene NEUROG2. The study compares the mechanisms of NKX2-2 in rodents and humans, revealing a Notch- and tinman-independent mode of Neurog2 repression in human spinal progenitors. This preprint has not yet undergone peer review and provides valuable insights into the molecular basis of motor neurogenesis. [Extracted from the article]
