Abstract

Researchers from the Hospital & University of Coimbra in Portugal conducted a study on the relationship between self-reported sleep quality and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). They found that daytime dysfunction was higher in AD patients and correlated with cognitive scores and biomarkers. The study suggests that daytime dysfunction may be an independent predictor of neurodegeneration and dementia risk. This research was supported by Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
