Abstract
- Researchers at Erasme University Hospital in Brussels conducted a study on alterations in the Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) during septic shock, focusing on angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) activity and the balance between angiotensin peptides. The study involved an experimental septic shock model in swine, which showed significant changes in plasma renin activity, angiotensin I and II levels, ACE activity, and the angiotensin I/angiotensin II ratio. The findings suggest adaptive responses within the RAS during septic shock, potentially offering new insights into sepsis management and therapeutic targets. The research was published in Critical Care Explorations and can be accessed for free online. [Extracted from the article]
