Abstract

A study conducted at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa, Russia, compared the effects of low-iodine diet and methimazole-induced hypothyroidism on oxidative metabolism in the liver of rats. The research found that the low-iodine diet model led to more significant inhibition of thyroid function compared to the methimazole-induced hypothyroidism model. The results suggest that conflicting data on oxidative metabolism in hypothyroidism may be due to different approaches used to model thyroid dysfunction. For more information, the study was published in the Biomedical and Pharmacology Journal. [Extracted from the article]
