Abstract

Cention N is an alkasite restorative material, containing alkaline fillers. Cention N is thought to be able to release hydroxyl ions, calcium, and fluoride ions, which can counteract an acidic pH. The goal of this research is to compare the antibacterial activity of Cention N with Glass Ionomer Fuji IX GP, and assure the results with pH findings. Ten cylindrical molds from each of the two groups--Cention N (alkasite) and Fuji IX (GIC): were examined. The specimens were infected with S. mutans, lactobacilli, and E. faecalis and put on agar plates at 37°C. Then at various periods, including 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes, 12, and 24 hours, the groups' growth inhibition zones' diameters were observed and studied after 48 hours. We used a 0.05 level of confidence to do one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD tests on the data. The results were validated using PH analyses. Antimicrobial activity against S. mutans, lactobacilli, and E. faecalis was considerably greater in Cention N compared to Fuji IX at 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes, and 12, 24 hours (P<0.05). Because of its ability to prevent caries, cention N might be a good substitute for glass ionomers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
