Abstract
- Researchers at Makerere University in Uganda conducted a study on the impact of type 2 diabetes on Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific T-cell memory phenotypes and functional profiles. The research found that individuals with latent TB infection and diabetes had altered T-cell responses compared to those with latent TB infection only. The study suggests that type 2 diabetes may impair the immune response to TB, potentially increasing the risk of active TB disease. The findings highlight the importance of understanding the interaction between diabetes and TB for effective disease management. [Extracted from the article]
