Abstract

Researchers from Chongqing Medical University have developed a handheld electrochemical bacterial sensor for accurate detection of Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) in saliva, a bacterium associated with various systemic diseases. The sensor utilizes a multifunctional composite hydrogel and DNA biomimetic nanowalls to enhance detection capabilities, with a limit of detection as low as 6 CFU/mL. This innovative device offers advantages in terms of time consumption and portability compared to traditional ELISA kits, presenting a novel perspective for portable bacterial detection devices.
