Abstract

Research from Shandong University explores the design and synthesis of novel tetrahydronephthalene-1-amine based analogues as cholinesterase inhibitors, focusing on their potential in treating Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The study synthesized analogues with varying substituents and evaluated their inhibitory activities against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), finding that electron donating and withdrawing groups had differing effects on enzyme inhibition. The research suggests that compound 4b shows promise as a lead molecule for Alzheimer's disease treatment. The study was funded by Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University and published in Results in Chemistry by Elsevier. [Extracted from the article]
