Abstract
- Researchers at Imperial College London have discussed data on health human resources, specifically focusing on the healthcare needs in Malawi. The study proposes a new data-grounded modeling method that compares healthcare needs with the capabilities of the healthcare workforce. The model estimates the volume of health services delivered and highlights a significant discrepancy between the time needed for healthcare workers and the time available. The research suggests that services are being delivered in less time than they should be and that the healthcare system could become overwhelmed if patients were more likely to seek care. This new model provides a means to examine the potential health consequences of such changes. [Extracted from the article]
