Abstract

A new report from the University of British Columbia discusses the methodologies used to elicit and record pudendal somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) in adult humans. The researchers conducted a systematic review of 132 studies and found inconsistencies in the literature regarding the methodology used. Most studies focused on male participants, highlighting a lack of research on female pelvic neurophysiology. The researchers propose a Pudendal SEP Reporting Checklist to improve the reporting of protocols. Further research is needed to establish optimal methodologies for investigating the pudendal nerve.
