Abstract
- Researchers at New York University (NYU) have conducted a study on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a Gram-negative bacterium. The study focused on the role of the Prc protease in inducing mucoidy in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The researchers found that AlgW is the primary site-1 protease for wild-type MucA, while Prc acts as the site-1 protease for MucA22 in non-inducing conditions. Additionally, the study revealed that Prc is unable to degrade the periplasmic domain of wild-type MucA but can degrade the mutated periplasmic domain of MucA22 directly. This research provides new insights into the mechanisms of mucoid conversion in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. [Extracted from the article]
