Abstract

A study conducted at Al-Azhar University in Assiut, Egypt compared the outcomes of using ultrathin semirigid retrograde ureteroscopy and antegrade flexible ureteroscopy to treat proximal ureteric stones of sizes 1-2 cm. The study included 230 patients divided into two treatment groups. The results showed that antegrade flexible ureteroscopy is equivalent to retrograde ultrathin semirigid ureteroscopy in terms of stone-free status and procedure-related morbidity. However, the antegrade approach had a longer operative time, greater fluoroscopy exposure, and longer hospital stays. [Extracted from the article]
