Abstract

A new report from Weill Medical College of Cornell University discusses the timing of laceration repair in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The research found that delaying primary repairs of uncomplicated wounds does not increase the rate of infection or impact the final cosmetic outcome. The study, which included a retrospective review of cases over a 14-year practice, concluded that qualified professionals can safely apply delayed repair in carefully selected cases.
