Abstract

A recent systematic review conducted by researchers at the School of Medicine in Isfahan, Iran, explored the relationship between chitotriosidase (CHIT1) levels and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The review analyzed 14 studies and found that the level of CHIT1 in the cerebrospinal fluid of ALS patients was significantly higher than that of healthy control and disease control groups. The findings suggest a strong association between CHIT1 increase and ALS disorder. As the elderly population continues to grow, identifying effective diagnostic and treatment methods for ALS becomes increasingly important. [Extracted from the article]
