School of Medicine Researcher Publishes New Studies and Findings in the Area of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Association between cerebrospinal fluid chitotriosidase level and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a systematic review).

A recent systematic review conducted by researchers at the School of Medicine in Isfahan, Iran, explored the relationship between chitotriosidase (CHIT1) levels and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The review analyzed 14 studies and found that the level of CHIT1 in the cerebrospinal fluid of ALS patients was significantly higher than that of healthy control and disease control groups. The findings suggest a strong association between CHIT1 increase and ALS disorder.
