Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Department of Pathobiology highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Ghana in controlling and preventing rabies. The disease is a significant public health issue in rural communities with limited access to healthcare and veterinary services. The study examines the interventions, challenges, and opportunities related to rabies control in Ghana, including dog vaccination efforts and One Health strategies. The research emphasizes the importance of adopting One Health principles to eliminate rabies in Ghana by 2030 and suggests that addressing challenges such as low vaccination coverage, weak surveillance, and inadequate coordination across sectors can strengthen rabies control programs in the country.
