Abstract

A recent study conducted by investigators at Southeast University in Nanjing, China, has examined the polymorphic transformation mechanism and crystal habits control of the antiviral drug peramivir. The researchers discovered a new dihydrate single crystal structure, a higher-quality trihydrate single crystal structure, and a novel anhydrous form. They also found that the trihydrate form of peramivir is the most stable. By increasing the stirring speed during the manufacturing process, the duration of crystallization from dihydrate to trihydrate was reduced. These findings have important implications for the industrial production of peramivir. [Extracted from the article]
